3rd Grade Reading Success Matters

Tell Our Story

A year after the launch of the Grade-Level Reading Communities Network, members across the country sat down to reflect on their accomplishments and their challenges in moving the needle on third grade reading. They shared stories—in words, video and photos–about a kindergarten countdown that increased school readiness and about a summer reading program that tapped older student to teach younger kids, about opening school early in the morning to improve attendance and about using doctors to provide books and advice on reading. The stories show what is possible with hard work and how to navigate the pitfalls. They also set a template for other communities to follow. For all the research and expert advice the GLR Campaign provides, communities often learn the most from their peers.
